The Rocky Mountain region is the second most unchurched area in the United States. To keep up with population growth, the number of new churches being planted needs to increase by two-thirds. Converge Rocky Mountain is committed to do our part. Historically, this district was built on a passion to see new churches planted. During the 1960’s and 70’s, close to 30 congregations were birthed.
It is time for a new baby boom in church planting! The three youngest Converge Rocky Mountain church starts had a combined attendance on Easter 2010 of nearly 1,000 attendees. Two new Hispanic churches in Grand Junction, CO and Albin, WY have already seen lives changed and people baptized. A new Utah Initiative is underway. Utah is the most unchurched area in our country. A taskforce is also exploring a New Mexico planting initiative. New Mexico, like the rest of our region, is expected to grow by millions over the next twenty years. What opportunities! In response, Converge Rocky Mountain is building strong systems to develop leaders and churches that will impact our region until the Lord returns. Check out the planting pathway and see if church planting is a good fit for you.
