A note from Paul Mitton

As you know, the BGC has adopted the new nickname, "Converge Worldwide." (Baptist General Conference remains the official legal name.) The two major reasons for the rebranding globally include giving missionaries access to more foreign countries that excluded them because of the Baptist name, and providing a neutral alternative for church planters who want to identify themselves with the denomination but felt the word "Baptist" might be a stumbling block to connecting with unchurched people.

Following the lead of our national leaders, the RMBC Overseers recently approved "Converge Rocky Mountain" as the new DBA for our regional movement of churches (Rocky Mountain Baptist Conference is still the legal name of our district.)

Change is always a little uncomfortable  and you may have strong opinions on your like or dislike of the word "converge." (Hopefully, you participated in our online survey a few months ago.) No matter how you may feel right now... my hope is that over the next couple of years we will work together to fill the name "Converge Rocky Mountain" with all kinds of positive meaning. My hope is that when people hear "Converge Rocky Mountain" their minds will be instantly filled with pictures of a movement of churches who are passionate about Christ, passionate about building believers and passionate about seeing new, healthy congregations formed to reach the lost and lonely in the Rocky Mountains. A movement of churches that authentically represent God's Kingdom on earth. A movement of churches they would like to partner with to make a redemptive difference. "Converge Rocky Mountain" symbolizes a new era in our fifty year history. Let's come together as God's people to accomplish His purposes, for His glory!
